Nervous system is our body's main control and communication network that coordinates everything we think, feel, and do. It helps us sense the world, process information, control movement, manage our automated functions, such as breathing or digestion, and enables our thoughts and emotions.

A regulated nervous system easily shifts between stress and rest. After stressful event, it smoothly returns to a calm baseline.
A dysregulated nervous system does not easily shift between stress and rest, it remains "stuck" in chronic survival states. It remains either hyperactivated or shut down, never returning to a calm baseline.

When our nervous system is regulated, we respond to life smoothly. During a real crisis, we enter fight-or-flight and then calm down after the crisis is over. We can rest, digest food properly, fall asleep easily, and sleep deeply. We stay emotionally balanced and have clear thinking and problem solving. We can connect to ourselves and others, communicating well and showing compassion and empathy.

When our nervous system is dysregulated, we are stuck in survival modes which affect us on all levels. Dysregulated nervous system affects our endocrine system, and they together affect the rest of our body systems.

On a physical level we may have racing heart or palpitations, tightness in our chest or stomach, trouble sleeping or staying asleep, chronic fatigue or brain fog, digestive issues, headaches or muscle tension.
On a mental level we may have fast, looping or racing thoughts, difficulty focusing or making decisions, brain fog and confusion, memory slips or poor recall, constant worry or hypervigilance, heavy mental exhaustion, making simple life situations seem like major life threats.
On the emotional level, we are easily overwhelmed, angry or irritable, feeling wired yet deeply tired, having anxiety or panic attacks, emotional numbness or detachment, even detached from our body, having mood swings, low drive or low motivation.
On a soul level, core beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and actions from wounded soul parts supersede those of healed soul parts, keeping us activated and reactive towards ourselves and others.
On the energetic level, we shift between high energy and low energy; pushing hard on adrenaline until total collapse, resting briefly, and forcing yourself back into overdrive.
On a spiritual level, we may have crisis of faith, hope, and meaning, having energetic and sensory overload.

This is why resetting our nervous system is crucial. Shifting from dysregulated to regulated nervous system allows us to shift from stress to calm, allowing our body to function in balance, and allowing ourselves to make life enriching and empowering choices.

You can receive support in your Nervous System Regulation during our private sessions or during Nervous System Regulation Training, where we practice regulating our nervous system on all levels and learn not only how to help ourselves but also how to support others!
